EMDR

EMDR

EMDR Stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy

It is a researched therapy recommended by WHO, NICE and NHS for treating PTSD, abuse or other traumatic life experiences

It is also effective for many other common problems such as Phobias

Traumatic experiences may be ‘blocked’ – they have not been processed.

EDMR session usually involve multiple, repeated sets of coordinated eye movements but tapping or audio stimulation can also be used.

This activates reprocessing and reorganisation of the experiences in the safety of the therapeutic space.

I was personally sceptical when I first heard about EMDR but I have experienced first-hand how effective and powerful it can be.

The results are quick and lasting.

Memories are not erased but they no longer cause distress.
